Earlier this week, we covered claims from Italy which stated Everton are looking to get ahead of Real Betis in the race to sign Juventus’ Arthur Melo in the winter market.
It was also said the Premier League side have contacted the midfielder’s entourage regarding a potential deal.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Everton and Real Betis have been keeping an eye on the 28-year-old for several months.
Arthur was on loan at Fiorentina last season and Juve manager Thiago Motta hasn’t given him any minutes this season.
The Turin club are working on carrying out a few exits in this window to lower their wage bill. Di Marzio says Arthur is the ‘No.1 suspect’ to leave and Everton and the La Liga side are his suitors.
According to the journalist, the paths leading to Everton and Manuel Pellegrini’s side ‘remain open’ for the Brazilian. At this point in time, it’s not clear as to who among the Toffees and Real Betis are ahead.
With Arthur a firm contender to leave the Serie A side in this window, developments are expected in the coming days.
