Alex Moreno has taken to life at Nottingham Forest with much enthusiasm and commitment, which is shown in his New Year post on social media.

Moreno joined Forest on loan from Aston Villa in August and has become a useful squad option for Nuno Espirito Santo, competing with Neco Williams at left back.

Forest fans begged Moreno to stay after Forest’s win over West Ham and he has continued to be a favourite amongst the fans at the City Ground with commendable performances in Forest’s impenetrable defence.

The Spaniard has won 75% of his tackles per 90 minutes so far this season, as well as 1.59 interceptions per game and having an assist to his name.

Whilst it seems that Forest won’t sign Moreno permanently in January, Moreno’s recent post on social media has offered a hint about where his loyalties lie in terms of his future.

Alex Moreno hints at Nottingham Forest future in social media post

Posting on X to bring in the new year, the Spanish full-back’s choice of images showed just how much he is enjoying his time in Nottingham.

In his New Year’s Eve post, Moreno posted six images alongside the message that all featured him playing for Forest, despite featuring almost 20 times for his parent club, Aston Villa, in 2024.

Whilst it could simply be a coincidence, Moreno is clearly happy at the City Ground and his post shows just that. Whether Evangelos Marinakis will sanction a permanent deal for Moreno in the summer is still to be seen, the Forest owner’s recent comments on transfers hint that a deal is very possible.

Moreno could make sense given Evangelos Marinakis’ comments

Marinakis is prioritising the Forest dressing room atmosphere when considering any incoming in the January transfer window, which makes a permanent move for Moreno logical given how well he has settled into the Forest squad.

Forest were linked with Pervis Estupinan as a potential option at left-back, but that deal would be much more expensive than a deal for Moreno.

An alternative to Moreno would also likely expect to start over the in-form Williams at left-back, making the move for Moreno both a cost-effective and squad-friendly option. If Marinakis wants to prioritise the dressing room atmosphere at the City Ground, signing Moreno permanently could be perfect.
