"He was convinced" – Manager reveals player was determined to join Nottingham Forest this summer

On August 16th, Nottingham Forest signed Ramón Sosa from CA Talleres.

Walter Ribonetto was then in charge at the Argentine club and was released from his duties 10 days later.

The manager has now talked about the Nottingham Forest summer signing, with Versus relaying his comments.

Talleres president Andrés Fassi was initially reluctant to let the 25-year-old join the Reds, after they changed the terms of the agreement. This didn’t please the winger, who refused to train as he tried to force a move to the Premier League side.

Sosa’s former teammate, Matías Galarza, insisted he suffered during this period. The Paraguay international was eventually able to secure a move to Nottingham Forest, after they came to an agreement with Talleres.

Despite the disagreement between the two clubs, the former Talleres manager insists the player was determined to join Nuno Espírito Santo’s side.

“He was convinced that he was going to play in the Premier League, he told me ‘Saturday Tino, turn on the TV, I’m going to be there, I’m going to play in the Premier League’. He was very convinced,” he said.

Sosa played 21 matches under Ribonetto’s orders at Talleres, managing seven goals and six assists in the process. The manager insists the attacker wasn’t at his best during the training.

“He enjoyed training, fun, happy, on a day-to-day basis he was not his best version, but in competition you had to put up with him, he is a fearsome player,” Ribonetto explained.

The Paraguayan has a goal from four matches for Nottingham Forest so far.
