Tottenham Hotspur secured a statement 3-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford last week in what was one of their biggest victories of the Ange Postecoglou era.

Goals from Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulsevski and Dominic Solanke gave Spurs all three points as Manchester United’s misery was compounded by Bruno Fernandes’ red card before the interval.

The Red Devils never really recovered after going behind in the opening exchanges through Johnson, who tapped the ball into an empty net after a brilliant run and set-up from Micky van de Ven.

The Dutchman was also incredibly solid at the back for Tottenham as he continues to form a brilliant partnership with Cristian Romero.

Gabriel Agbonlahor feels Van de Ven is one of the best defenders in the Premier League as he named in his Team of the Week for his outstanding display against the Red Devils.

Referring to the Dutchman as an ‘outstanding’ defender, Agbonlahor went on to explain why Premier League attackers will absolutely dread the prospect of coming up against him.

"I called him one of the best centre-halves in the Premier League and I got slaughtered for it, but I stand by that,” said Agbonlahor on talkSPORT.

“He's an outstanding defender. The assist for the first goal was something you don't really see from centre-halves – he's got that and can do it more often.”

“His defending as well – quick, aggressive, strong. He's a player I'd have hated to play against and I'm sure strikers and wingers don't wanna play against him. Top, top defender."

Van de Ven indispensable for Tottenham now

Since moving to the club last summer, Van de Ven has delivered quite consistently, but this season, he seems to have taken his game up a notch.

Alongside Cristian Romero, he has marshaled the Tottenham backline quite well and will look to maintain his rich vein of form in the coming weeks.

With an international break on the horizon, it remains to be seen if Van de Ven is given a chance by Ronald Koeman to start for the Netherlands.
