Ezri Konsa has had to pull out of Lee Carsley's latest England squad.

The Aston Villa defender suffered an injury at the weekend against Manchester United, and he's had to withdraw from his international duties.

However, Konsa is still a core member of the Three Lions setup, and speaking to ITV Sport, Phil Foden has been discussing the Villa star.

Foden was playing a game of 'Guess Who?' alongside Angel Gomes in which he had to describe various England teammates to the midfielder.

Foden was tasked with describing Konsa, and he gave the defender a glowing review.

The Manchester City star claimed that Konsa is a great one vs one defender, while he noted that some members of the England squad privately say the 26-year-old is one of the toughest defenders they have faced.

What England's players say about Ezri Konsa

Foden shared some insight into Konsa and how he's viewed within the England camp.

The City star claimed that some of his England teammates rate Konsa very highly.

That is glowing praise to say the least as this England team is jam-packed full of elite players operating at a world-class level.

"A great one vs one defender, some of the lads say that he's one of the toughest they've ever come up against," Foden said.

"Is it Ez?" Gomes said.

"Yeah," Foden said.

When will Konsa return from injury?

Foden's comments serve to highlight just how brilliant a player Konsa is, and many Aston Villa fans will be wondering when the defender will be back in action.

Konsa had to come off against Manchester United at the weekend, and that's cost him his place in this England camp.

Luckily, the injury isn't severe and Konsa is expected to be back in one or two weeks – according to The Telegraph.

Aston Villa's next game is against Fulham after the international break, and after the Cottagers put Manchester City to the sword at the weekend, that will be far from a simple task.

Adama Traore earned rave reviews for his showing against Manchester City on Saturday playing down the left wing, and Marco Silva may be tempted to use Traore in the same position again at Villa Park if Konsa is out of action.

Villa need Konsa to return to fitness as soon as possible.
