Fulham continued their strong start to the new Premier League season with the first away win of the campaign on the road against Nottingham Forest.

Raul Jimenez’s 51st-minute penalty was all that separated the two sides at the City Ground as the Cottagers climbed up to sixth in the Premier League standings after six games, just two points off a UEFA Champions League spot.

With Marco Silva’s summer signings in Emile Smith Rowe and Joachim Andersen proving to be some of the best in the league this season, Fulham fans could expect yet another exciting campaign even after losing a key player in Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich.

And Troy Deeney has praised one Fulham star for what he managed to achieve this weekend against Forest.

Joachim Andersen praised after ‘excellent’ defensive display vs Forest

Writing for BBC Sport, the former Watford captain hailed Andersen after the Danish international’s performance against Forest, with Fulham the only side to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League facing off against another 11.

Signed for £30m this summer, Andersen has been a coup for Fulham since returning to west London in the transfer window, and Deeney was impressed with what he saw from the former Crystal Palace star against Forest.

Deeney said when talking about Andersen and Fulham’s defensive performance: “They were the only team to get a clean sheet having played 11 v 11 at Nottingham Forest. They were excellent, he was excellent.

“The Dane been a real strong addition for Fulham. He has a passing ability which is quite under-rated. He hit some lovely diagonal balls which got them moving forward.”

Andersen is proving to be one of the Premier League signings of the season

Andersen impressed during his last spell at Craven Cottage with Fulham, and some three years later, the Danish international is again showing why he is made for the Premier League having thrived under Silva.

Although one could argue Fulham paid over the odds to bring Andersen back to the club, the results speak for itself, with the former Palace star thriving this season at his old side alongside Calvin Bassey.

Indeed, Silva has stumbled upon a fantastic back-five and a solid defence that could take Fulham a long way this season, and signing Andersen has been key to this revelation, with the 28-year-old centre-back at the peak of his powers back in west London.
