Liverpool have been brilliant so far this season under Arne Slot, and one of their top performers had undoubtedly been Ryan Gravenerch.

The Dutch midfielder looks reborn in this deeper midfield role, and he was excellent again at the weekend against Bournemouth.

Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Tim Sherwood has reserved some very special praise for Gravenberch, comparing him to the legendary Patrick Vieira.

Indeed, Sherwood says that Gravenberch is the full package and the way he breaks lines with his powerful running reminds him a lot of Vieira.

Ryan Gravenbech compared to Patrick Vieira

Sherwood spoke incredibly highly of the Liverpool midfielder.

"He looks like a defensive-minded, responsible footballer, I think he has all of the attributes to play that number six role. It looks like he owns the pitch. You talk about breaking lines with a pass, he breaks lines with movement," Sherwood said.

"He has the whole package, when he needs to break it up he does, he controls the tempo of the game. Look at that, that is Patrick Vieira that.

"A big boy, six foot three, they've stumbled upon a defensive midfield player who is enjoying the role, I think they have a wonderful midfield.

"You see those midfield players costing £100m, £90m, £80m over the years, he was relatively cheap."

Ryan Gravenberch has huge potential

Ryan Gravenberch has shown huge improvements in his game in recent weeks, and the sky may well be the limit for this young man.

His physical profile is that of a truly world-class midfield player, he's big, he's strong, he's fast, he's very much in that Vieira mould.

If he can consistently deliver on the technical side of things, there's no reason why Gravenberch can't develop into one of the world's very best midfield players.

Liverpool have a real potential star on their hands here.
