Charlton Athletic are currently eyeing promotion to the Championship from League One this season.

Charlton Athletic’s form in 2025 so far has been very impressive. CAFC have catapulted themselves up the league and are now sat in 4th place in the table.

The Addicks are inside the play-offs along with Wycombe Wanderers, Stockport County and Huddersfield Town. They have nine fixtures left to play this season.

Nathan Jones’ side are six points inside the top six. They are also only five behind Wrexham in 2nd.

They are back in action after the international break with an away trip to London Road to face Peterborough United. The London outfit then lock horns with Huddersfield Town at home to end March.

Here, we highlight three players who could leave if they fail to get promoted to the second tier…

Name the player...

Thierry Small

His contract at Charlton Athletic expires at the end of June and he is due to become a free agent as things stand. He has a big decision to make regarding his situation at The Valley and he will be weighing up his options.

Small, 20, has made 38 appearances in all competitions this season and has chipped in with two goals. When asked about his future in January, he said, as per London News Online: “It’s currently under negotiations and I’m just letting my agent deal with it. We will just see where it goes from there.”

Tyrese Campbell

The 21-year-old has a bright future in the game and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see other clubs sniffing around him later this year if the Addicks remain in League One. He has become a key player for Jones’ side and should try and test himself at a higher level.

Campbell, who is from Southwark, has been on the books of his current club for his whole career to date and rose up through their academy. He was a regular at various different youth levels before breaking into the first-team in 2021 and he has since played 113 matches, finding the net on 11 occasions.

Karoy Anderson

Like Campbell, Anderson has also progressed through the ranks at Charlton Athletic and is highly-rated. The 20-year-old is already a Jamaica international with 12 caps to his name.

If they don’t get promoted, they are at risk of losing promising talents like Anderson. He has made 34 outings this term and has scored once.
