Sheffield Wednesday loanee Bailey Cadamarteri is facing weeks out and it remains to be seen if he can return this season, as per The Star.

Sheffield Wednesday sent young striker Bailey Cadamarteri out on loan in the summer window. The teenage prospect made his SWFC breakthrough last season but was loaned in favour of getting more minutes elsewhere.

Lincoln City snapped him up, and while the Imps haven’t reached the heights hoped of them this time around, Owls prospect Cadamarteri has still had a valuable experience.

The 19-year-old has eight goals in 31 games and has had to fight for a starting berth. His Sincil Bank stay has brought challenges, most notably with injury in recent months.

Sheffield Wednesday prospect Cadamarteri briefly returned off the bench against Crawley Town at the start of this month but has missed the last two Lincoln City games through a new blow.

Now, after initial belief the youngster would not be out for long, The Star states Cadamarteri is in fact facing weeks out due to issues with his groin.

With such little time left in the season, there are now concerns over whether the SWFC loanee will be fit to return for Lincoln City before the season’s end.

A blow for all

It remains to be seen just how long Cadamarteri is facing on the sidelines but with a matter of weeks left in the season, the Sheffield Wednesday loanee will be up against it in the race to return before the campaign’s end.

Of course, it’s a blow for the striker himself, but Lincoln City will also be disappointed if the loan ace can’t make his comeback.

Cadamarteri’s tally of eight goals across all competitions has him as their second-top goalscorer despite his time out injured. He only relinquished top spot at the weekend after Jovon Makama’s hat-trick against Bristol City.

Many will be wondering how many Cadamateri could be on had injury not hit.

What next for Cadamarteri?

The focus for Cadamarteri will be on getting back to fitness in a bid to return before the season’s end but looking to the long-term, the Sheffield Wednesday prospect will have eyes on next season too.

SWFC will have a call to make over whether to bring the Jamaican international back into their senior fold or to loan him out again.

The teenager has shown he has goals in him at a senior level and his Lincoln City stint has had fruit to bear. A step up to the Championship could lay ahead, but it isn’t out of the question that he heads out on loan again either.
