Barnsley will be hoping to end their three-game losing streak this weekend when relegation-bound Cambridge United come to town.

Barnsley have their play-off hopes fade away recently with their recent poor form leaving them nine points adrift of the top six.

Their opponents this weekend Cambridge Town are also in shocking form, losing their last four games.

The U’s are 13 points adrift from safety in 23rd place and Neil Harris’ men look destined for League Two.

Last time out they were beaten 1-0 by bitter rivals Peterborough United at the Abbey Stadium. Neil Harris was particularly critical of his side after the game.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Charlie Hodgson

“Two sides who are really low on confidence coming together here. Barnsley need to pick up three points here if they want any chance of finishing in the top six.

“Cambridge now have basically nothing to play for, it would take a complete miracle for them to stay up. Harris won’t let his side go out without a fight though and they will still give Barnsley a good game.

“With that said I do still think Barnsley will win this one. The Tykes are the better side and if either are going to end this losing run I think it is going to be them.”

Prediction: Barnsley 2-0 Cambridge United

James Ray

“There’s not a good feeling around Barnsley at the moment and while some may have felt action was required over Darrell Clarke’s position, I’m not sure whether it will change anything at this stage in the season.

“Three straight defeats and now nine points away from the play-offs, the Tykes are facing an uphill battle to salvage anything from this season.

Cambridge United though, you can’t help but feel they’re as good as down. They’ve got 13 points to make up and there’s little sign of things turning around.

Barnsley should be winning this and I’ll back them to do so. Perhaps that and some favourable results elsewhere can breathe life back into their season, but it remains to be seen.”

Prediction: Barnsley 2-1 Cambridge United
