Birmingham City make the trip to Wrexham on Thursday night as League One promotion rivals clash in North Wales.

Birmingham City head to the Racecourse Ground on Thursday night to face a Wrexham side looking to complete a remarkable feat this season. Alongside BCFC, they’re battling for a third consecutive promotion.

Many backed the Red Dragons to be competitive in League One this season. However, few thought they’d be 3rd in the table and firmly in the fight for a rise to the Championship via the automatic promotion spots.

Phil Parkinson’s side will be out to bounce back here though, having lost 2-1 to lowly rivals Shrewsbury Town last week.

As for Birmingham City, they’re in a commanding position in the fight for the title.

While only two points separate them and Wycombe Wanderers in 2nd place, BCFC boast two games in hand. They’ve been beaten just twice all season and are unbeaten since losing to Shrewsbury Town on November 23rd.

The Blues have won 12 games across all competitions since then, drawing twice.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

Birmingham City are in a remarkable vein of form and look on track to make the immediate return to Championship football expected of them. There’s plenty of time left in the season though, and promotion rivals are on hand to pounce if they slip up.

Wrexham are among the sides that will be hoping BCFC hit a tough patch, but the Red Dragons are stuttering a bit themselves.

“Two losses in the last three League One games is by no means anything to panic over, but when the Blues have set such a standard, any slip up is going to be costly.

“We should get a competitive game here, but it’s hard not to go for an away win. I’ll say Davies’ side win 2-1.”

Prediction: Wrexham 1-2 Birmingham City

Harry Mail

“This is an important game at the top end of League One and a chance for both teams to boost their respective promotion pushes.

Wrexham have home advantage and the Racecourse Ground should be rocking under the lights for this one.

“However, Birmingham City have been very strong over recent times and have some top quality players in their squad.

“They have good strength in depth and will fancy their chances of getting a win. The Blues are carrying momentum and I fancy them to get three points in Wales.”

Prediction: Wrexham 0-2 Birmingham City
