Wrexham and Mansfield Town meet in League One this weekend in an exciting clash between two of last season’s promotion winners.

Wrexham come into their clash with Mansfield Town sitting 3rd in the League One table, now four points off the automatic promotion spots having played a game more than 2nd placed Birmingham City.

It’s been a fantastic start to life in the third-tier for Phil Parkinson’s side. Few anticipated they would be in the promotion chase straight away despite their spending, but they’ve been more than a match for many early on.

The Red Dragons have drawn back-to-back league games against Huddersfield Town and Wrexham but were beaten in the FA Cup by Harrogate Town last weekend.

As for Mansfield Town, they’ve impressed just as much as Wrexham since rising from League Two.

If few had the North Welsh side down to scrap for promotion, then even less would have backed the Stags to do so. Nevertheless, they sit 4th with just one less point than this weekend’s opponents having played a game less.

Nigel Clough has worked wonders at Field Mill and will be keen to maintain their high levels this weekend.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

“It’s going to be really interesting to see just how this game pans out.

“The league standings of Wrexham and Mansfield Town shows how far they have come in a short time to have started life in League One so well. However, it will be a different thing seeing what the differences are when they’re pit against one another.

“It’s really tough to split the two as the Stags have been great on the road, which should give them hope of getting something in North Wales. However, the Racecourse is such a tough place to go, and that could be the difference.

“This really feels like it could go either way, but I’m going to go for a narrow home win.”

Prediction: Wrexham 1-0 Mansfield Town

Harry Mail

“Both Wrexham and Mansfield Town have adapted well to life in League One.

“The hosts are 3rd in the table behind Wycombe Wanderers and Birmingham City and are eyeing another promotion.

“Parkinson’s side have home advantage here which could take them a long way.

“The Stags are only a point behind their upcoming opponents and are also carrying momentum. They will be in confident mood as they make the trip to Wales.

“This is a tough one to call and could go either way. In the end though, I can see the hosts sneaking it.”

Prediction: Wrexham 2-1 Mansfield Town
