Wrexham want to sign a striker with Championship experience in January, according to journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon page.

Wrexham are keen to bolster their attacking department this winter. They were beaten 1-0 away at Stockport County this weekend after Louie Barry’s first-half goal and they weren’t able to find an equaliser at Edgeley Park.

Phil Parkinson’s side are sat in 3rd place in the table and have 28 points on the board from their first 15 games. They were promoted from League Two last season and have since adapted well to the step up to League One as they look to go up again.

In this latest update ahead of the upcoming transfer window, reporter Nixon has claimed on Patreon that the Red Dragons have money to spend and want to bring in someone who has played in the second tier before to help fire in the goals.

Wrexham have a few different options to pick from at the top end of the pitch like Ollie Palmer, Paul Mullin, Jack Marriott, Mo Faal, Steven Fletcher and Jón Daði Böðvarsson.

They have scored 22 goals so far in this campaign which is less than Wycombe Wanderers, Birmingham City, Stockport County and Barnsley around them.

At the other end of the pitch, the Red Dragons have only let in 11 which is the second best defensive record in the division behind Exeter City.

Wrexham’s recruitment has been shrewd over recent years and they have continued to tweak their squad as they continue to rise up the pyramid.

The Welsh side haven’t stood still and have always looked to improve in the transfer windows.

This past summer they delved into the market to bring in Faal, Ollie Rathbone, Seb Revan, Dan Scarr, George Dobson and Lewis Brunt, among others, to strengthen.

They also let Aaron Hayden, Luke Young and Ben Tozer head out the exit door to free up space and funds and pave the way for new arrivals.

What now?

Wrexham will be disappointed to have been beaten by Stockport County and will want to bounce back.

They are still in a strong position and are back in action next Saturday at home to Exeter City.

The Red Dragons have three matches at the Racecourse Ground in a row now against the Grecians, Lincoln City and Barnsley.

Parkinson’s men then head to Burton Albion on 7th December.
