Birmingham City are back in League One action this weekend with a clash against Bristol Rovers at St Andrew’s.

Birmingham City are eyeing an immediate promotion back from League One this season. They were relegated from the Championship last season after finishing in the bottom three with Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town.

The Blues turned to Chris Davies as their new boss in the summer. He has worked as a number two in the past with the likes of Celtic, Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Midlands outfit won 2-1 away at Exeter City in the EFL Trophy last time out. Keshi Anderson and Luke Harris got their goals.

As for Bristol Rovers, they are currently sat in 18th place in the third tier table. They are two points above the drop zone.

The Gas were beaten 3-0 away at Leyton Orient in their last outing and will be eager to bounce back from that heavy loss. Matt Taylor’s side have won only once in their last six games and have slipped down the league.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Harry Mail

Birmingham City will be too strong for Bristol Rovers if they show up.

“The Blues’ squad is littered with quality and they simply have to get promoted from League One this season.

“Davies’ side have games in-hand on Wycombe Wanderers and Wrexham above them and will want to take advantage of those.

Bristol Rovers’ confidence will have been dented by their defeat at Leyton Orient and I can’t see them getting anything this weekend.”

Prediction: Birmingham City 2-0 Bristol Rovers

Who is the manager of Blackpool?

James Ray

“After a bit of a blip – if you can call it that – Birmingham City are back in good form with three wins from three. As such, they should be confident of winning again here.

“Spirits are pretty low at Bristol Rovers as they struggle to find form. Some teams have found joy against the Blues but in all honestly, it’s very hard to see the Gas troubling Chris Davies’ side too much.

“I’ll back the hosts to win fairly comfortably, keeping a clean sheet on their way to a fourth win in a row.”

Prediction: Birmingham City 3-0 Bristol Rovers
