Lille still trying to extend Jonathan David's contract

From 1st January 2025, Jonathan David (24) will be allowed to discuss a pre-contract agreement with another club. The Canadian international has been linked with a big-money move away from Lille OSC in each of the past three summers, however, a transfer has never taken form. But with his contract up at the end of the season, he could ultimately leave on a free.

It is a situation that LOSC would like to avoid. The club have repeatedly ruled out selling the Canada international in January, insisting that he will see out the season with Les Dogues, but beyond then, it looks increasingly likely that David’s future lies elsewhere.

According to RMC SportOlivier Létang and the hierarchy at Lille are still trying to extend the striker’s current deal. However, the publication adds that the club’s hopes of doing so are dwindling and, as things stand, there is little chance of David extending his current contract. A free transfer in the summer therefore looks highly likely.
