Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid has been rumoured for some time, yet a deal now looks close to being made official.

The England international is believed to be close to reaching an agreement with Los Blancos, with Alexander-Arnold’s move to Madrid set to bring an end to a nearly 12-month saga involving the Liverpool defender.

With English players now more accustomed than ever to playing abroad, Alexander-Arnold’s transition from the Premier League with Liverpool to La Liga with the biggest club in the world with Madrid will be an interesting watch from the outside looking in.

And former Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has now named one Madrid player who could help Alexander-Arnold greatly in trying to settle in the Spanish capital.

Jude Bellingham backed to help Trent Alexander-Arnold at Real Madrid

Speaking to Sporty, the former England international noted that Jude Bellingham could be a big help for Alexander-Arnold in the Liverpool defender making the move from Merseyside to Spain, with the pair good friends off the pitch.

Bellingham was wanted by Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool before Madrid won the £100m race for the former Borussia Dortmund star’s signature, where the midfielder has since become one of the best players in world football.

And for Johnson, Bellingham could be key to Alexander-Arnold hitting the ground runningat Madrid, with the Liverpool defender set to leave his boyhood club for the first time and to put on the shirt of another team.

Johnson said: “He’s a world-class player and he’s got plenty of years in front of him, I’m sure Jude will help him settle in, as well as the club and everyone around him if the move goes ahead. But good players adapt quick, so if the move goes ahead then I have no doubt that he’ll settle in and enjoy it.”

Who could Liverpool sign to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold?

Replacing a player like Alexander-Arnold will not be an easy feat for Liverpool, with the defender one of the most unique players in the world and a talent who has a skillset that few can match in the current era.

Yet the Reds have been linked with some exciting names leading into the summer, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpomg seemingly the favourite for Liverpool to replace Alexander-Arnold next season.

With some time to go before the window opens, Liverpool know they need to find the perfect replacement for Alexander-Arnold, and getting this signing right could be the difference between another Premier League title or losing out on the championship.
