'Been told': Liverpool have made something clear about their interest in £35m PL star for January - journalist

The Liverpool transfer rumour mill is set to go into overdrive as the January window opens for business.
There was very little for Reds supporters to get excited about in the two markets during 2024 and they’ll be hoping for better in 2025.
One of the biggest wishes for fans is that Liverpool address what is becoming a developing problem at left-back.
Andy Robertson has been Arne Slot’s first choice this term, but the Scot has not had a good campaign. With Robertson struggling and Kostas Tsimikas very much a back-up, a new starting left-back is needed.
One player rumoured to be on Liverpool’s radar in that respect has been Fulham’s Antonee Robinson.
Jamie Carragher is a fan of Robinson’s, and the 27-year-old has certainly caught the eye. But according to journalist Mark Ogden, Liverpool are unlikely to be moving to sign him.
Liverpool think Antonee Robinson is too old
Robinson shone against Liverpool a little over two weeks ago, increasing the clamour for the Reds to take a look at him.
At the halfway point of the Premier League season, the USA international sits third on the assists charts, having set seven goals up for his Fulham teammates. Two of those came at Anfield last month.
But speaking on ESPN FC, Ogden says that Liverpool sources are insistent that Robinson is not being targeted.
“The Antonee Robinson thing has been there for a while now. He’s had a great season, arguably the best left-back in the league,” says the reporter.
“So, Robinson’s name has been attached to Liverpool quite a bit. But I’ve been told on more than one occasion that Liverpool have minimal interest in Robinson.
“It’s not because they don’t think he’s a good player,” Ogden adds. “It’s more the fact that he’s 27. He’s not their age profile. Liverpool don’t sign players for the long-term who are 27-years-old.”
Mark Ogden puts forward Robinson alternative
As well as rubbishing a Liverpool move for Robinson, Ogden suggested a name that he is hearing more credibly in relation to the Reds.
“The name that has been put to me is Milos Kerkez at Bournemouth,” he says. “He would fit the profile much better than Antonee Robinson.”
“They are playing the long game in terms of left-back and again I was told this weekend that they don’t think they’ll be busy in January.”
So, no Robinson for Liverpool and no Kerkez until at least the summer.
With Manchester United keen on signing Kerkez as well, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool ‘playing the long game’ pays off.
