Dortmund now on alert to sign 'sensational' Liverpool player after what Arne Slot has done - journalist

The January transfer window is well underway and it remains to be seen what Liverpool do this month.
Things have gone quite well for the Reds after Arne Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp at the helm as they currently lead the way in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
A handful of players like Ryan Gravenberch, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo have gone up a notch this season under the Dutchman as he continues to work his magic at the club.
However, the 2024-25 campaign hasn’t gone as planned for Harvey Elliott, who featured quite regularly under Klopp.
And now, if reports are to be believed, the Englishman is attracting interest from at least two clubs in the upcoming transfer windows.
Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott wanted by Brighton and Dortmund
With Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones ahead of him in the pecking order, Elliott has found games hard to come by this season.
He also suffered a telling blow earlier in the season when he fractured his foot while representing the England U-21s and found himself on the sidelines for an extended period.
Elliott has since returned to the first-team fray but still hasn’t managed to feature as regularly as he’d like.
And now, Lyall Thomas claims Brighton & Hove Albion and Borussia Dortmund are keeping tabs on the Liverpool youngster with a view to making a move in the upcoming transfer windows if his situation doesn’t change.
He wrote on X: “Exclusive: #Brighton + #Borussia Dortmund among the clubs keeping tabs on Harvey Elliot, with his lack of minutes under Arne Slot alerting Premier League and Bundesliga clubs to monitor his future over next two transfer windows.”
Elliott’s stats this season
Scott Chickelday hailed Elliott as a ‘sensational’ player, but the current season has been a testing time for the gifted youngster.
Harvey Elliott stats | Apps | Goals | Assists | Mins played |
Premier League | 7 | – | – | 43′ |
UEFA Champions League | 1 | – | – | 14′ |
EFL Cup | 1 | 1 | – | 90′ |
He has made just nine appearances this season and scored in his only start of the season, which was in the 3-1 Carabao Cup win against Southampton in December.
Elliott hasn’t played as regularly as he’d have liked this season, but with games set to come thick and fast between now and the end of the season, he is likely to feature a lot more regularly.
He’s clearly a talented player and has shown his class since joining the club from Fulham, so we doubt if a departure will be on the minds of the player or the club at this point in time.
