Exclusive: Whether PSG are planning on hijacking Liverpool's contract negotiations to sign Ibrahima Konate

Liverpool are unconcerned about potential interest in centre-back Ibrahima Konate, Rousing The Kop understands.

Konate has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Anfield, and the Frenchman publicly confirmed this week that he has been offered – but not yet signed – a new deal to stay with the Reds.

However, RTK understands that Liverpool remain confident of agreeing terms on an extension with Konate.

The 25-year-old is enjoying his current role as first-choice alongside Virgil van Dijk and is not agitating to leave Anfield in any way, shape or form.

Furthermore, Konate’s future is not understood to be linked with Van Dijk or any of Liverpool’s soon-to-be out of contract big hitters.

No active PSG attempts to sign Ibrahima Konate

Konate has been a key player for Arne Slot this season, making 22 appearances in all competitions.

And with Liverpool – and Konate himself – performing so well, there is understood to be several clubs watching his situation at Anfield.

Given his ties to the city, Konate has faced questions about a move to Paris Saint Germain in the past.

However, RTK understands that PSG are not currently considering a move to sign the Liverpool No.5.

The Paris based club are understood to be happy with their options at centre-back and there are no active plans to target Konate.

For his part, RTK have been informed that Konate is not considering a move away from Liverpool at this stage, with the France international keen for stability in his club career ahead of the World Cup next year.

Konate playing through the pain for Liverpool

Konate has been back to his best at Liverpool this season. After a tough end to life under Jurgen Klopp, the former RB Leipzig man has been reborn.

Nevertheless, the injury issues which have plagued his Liverpool career have still unfortunately been present.

On Monday, Konate confirmed he is not completely fit and has been playing through the pain sustained from his most recent knee issue.

The big centre-back did not play a single minute of Liverpool’s win over Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday, but is thought to be fit and available for Saturday’s clash with Ipswich.
