Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold proved his worth to the Reds once more with another impressive display.

Alexander-Arnold played the entire 90 minutes for Liverpool as they edged past Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park.

Diogo Jota scored the only goal of the game after nine minutes, with Michael Owen impressed by the assist from Kostas Tsimikas.

On the right, Alexander-Arnold shone at both ends of the pitch, with his defensive efforts helping Liverpool keep another clean sheet.

But as each day passes, the Anfield faithful will become increasingly worried about the future of many star players.

Liverpool's chances of losing Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid have just increased

Alexander-Arnold is among three central Liverpool figures that are rapidly approaching the end of their current deals.

The right-back's contract will expire at the end of the current season, with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah in the same position.

There will undoubtedly be interest in all three players, with European powerhouse Real Madrid chasing Alexander-Arnold.

And their chances of trying to sign the right-back have likely just increased given that their current right-back Dani Carvajal has just suffered a serious injury.

The Spaniard confirmed the injury on his Instagram early on Sunday morning after their win over Villarreal on Saturday, writing: "Serious cruciate ligament injury confirmed, I’m going to have to go through surgery and be off the field for a few months.

"Already looking forward to starting recovery and coming back like a beast. Thank you all so much for your messages, I feel very loved."

Will Real Madrid make their move for Trent Alexander-Arnold?

Carvajal will definitely be sidelined for some time, which will really frustrate Carlo Ancelotti given his strong start to the season.

The veteran remains a crucial player for Real Madrid, but they must now fill the gap that he will leave at right-back.

Right winger Lucas Vazquez has often filled in on the right side of defence, but given his age and indeed his favoured position, the Spanish giants are certain to look for a more suitable option.

They would have also been planning a Carvajal replacement prior to his injury, with the Spanish full-back approaching his 33rd birthday.

Vazquez is already 33, while Liverpool star Alexander-Arnold will turn just 26 this week, representing a superb option for the long-term.

Real Madrid's need for a new right-back, coupled with Alexander-Arnold's contract situation, certainly points to a switch from Anfield to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Liverpool should be doing their utmost to keep hold of their academy graduate at all costs, or at least look to sell him in January for a huge fee rather than lose him for free next summer.
