It very much seems like a new attacking player is on the radar of Arne Slot at Liverpool but one potential signing could now end up at Bayern Munich instead.

Liverpool have one of the most lethal frontlines in all of football but there still seems to be a clamour to further improve things.

Indeed, with Mo Salah potentially leaving, the Reds know that they might need to act quickly.

Rayan Cherki has once again been linked with a move to Liverpool while Federico Chiesa is wanted by Inter Milan, in a move which could free up a squad space.

However, while Liverpool have targets in mind, Bayern Munich could now trump them to one target.

Liverpool are keen on Lille forward Jonathan David, who is set to depart the French club for free in the summer.

Indeed, Liverpool are even thought to have made a direct enquiry for David in the last fortnight.

However, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bundesliga giants Bayern are now considering David as a back up for Harry Kane.

The Canadian forward has been one of the names mentioned in transfer windows for some time now and has just never quite got a move done.

However, it does seem like David will leave Lille finally and Liverpool are obviously wise to be scouting him.

Indeed, David has even been described as one of the best strikers in the world by Canadian football expert Tony Marinaro.

Of course, interest from Bayern is a bit of a spanner in the works for the Reds and the idea of working under Vincent Kompany might well appeal to David.

Liverpool, then, need to act quickly if they do want to make the signing.
