Real Madrid ready to make exception to get Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool in January – Reds not playing ball

Real Madrid have decided against making any signings in the January transfer window but will make an exception for Trent Alexander-Arnold if Liverpool open the door to a deal.

That's according to El Desmarque, who say Alexander-Arnold remains the exception to the rule now decided in the upper levels of the Bernabeu.

They report that Real Madrid have decided against going into the market in January to bolster their squad, despite injuries leading to 'significant losses' for Carlo Ancelotti.

“The good ending to this first stretch of the season, winning the Intercontinental Cup, and the good results that Raúl Asencio has been giving both in the center back and full-back positions, also Tchoúameni and Alaba, who are returning to training, mean that Madrid is not thinking of incorporating anyone," reports journalist Sergio Horas on El Desmarque Madrugada.

He then explained that Real Madrid do not want to add 'patches' to their squad but focus on players for the future and their 'young project'.

They would, however, consider one operation, and that is to get Alexander-Arnold out of Liverpool ahead of the summer.

His renewal at Anfield is now at a complete stop and Real Madrid have a contract ready to offer him, with a report yesterday stating that they would then see if Liverpool will do an early deal in January in return for a small transfer fee.

Real Madrid are licking their lips at the idea of getting the full-back on a free like they did with Kylian Mbappé, but President Florentino Pérez would be willing to reach out now and offer a small fee to maintain the good relationship between the two clubs.

The initial response from Liverpool to that idea has not been a positive one. They would not want to lose a key piece of Arne Slot's team in the middle of the season or reinforce a direct rival in the Champions League.

That may change as January progresses and Real Madrid are willing to make an exception if that is the case.
