Liverpool picked up another three Premier League points on Saturday after dispatching Crystal Palace.

The going is never easy at Selhurst Park and so it proved once again, but the Reds still managed to come out on top.

The day was not without its worries, though. After being forced off the pitch with around 10 minutes left to play, the biggest concern is over goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Alisson looks set to miss a little while with a hamstring problem, with Vitezslav Jaros forced into a Premier League debut against Palace.

But as Arne Slot has now confirmed after the game, Alisson was not the only Liverpool player to pick up a problem in South London.

Speaking to journalists post-match in the capital, Slot confirmed an issue for midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.

Arne Slot delivers Alexis Mac Allister update

There had been some confusion at Selhurst Park after Mac Allister was taken off at half-time.

Peter Crouch tried to explain Mac Allister’s substitution, with the former Liverpool striker suspecting that the Argentine had perhaps picked up a knock.

And, unfortunately, Slot has come out to confirm that Mac Allister had complained of a groin issue at the break.

As relayed by journalists Ian Doyle on X, the No.10 is now a doubt to head of on international duty for Argentina.

“Arne Slot reveals Alexis Mac Allister was substituted after complaining of a problem in the groin area,” says Doyle.

“The LFC midfielder will have the injury assessed before a decision is made on whether he joins up with Argentina in international break.”

From a Liverpool point of view, the best course of action would surely be for Mac Allister to take some rest over the next two weeks instead of flying halfway around the world.

Liverpool must make Alexis Mac Allister decision

It had felt a little fishy that Mac Allister was taken off with so long still to play against Crystal Palace.

The Argentina international has become such a key player in the Liverpool squad in recent months and Slot would have surely wanted him out there for longer at Selhurst Park.

In the end, fears have now been confirmed that Mac Allister’s removal was enforced.

With the international break now upon us, it is good timing as far as an injury is concerned. If it’s going to happen at all, it’s better to happen when Liverpool have a two-week break.

Argentina will of course want Mac Allister to play for them, but if there’s any doubt at all – and there surely is – then Macca should stay at home.
