Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to leave Liverpool at the end of this season, with a move to Real Madrid on the cards.
The 26-year-old’s contract is due to expire this summer with Alexander-Arnold all but ready to join Madrid, with the only thing missing is official confirmation from all sides heading into the transfer window.
With Kylian Mbappe already a fan of Alexander-Arnold ahead of the Liverpool defender’s inevitable move to the Spanish capital, the England international will leave Anfield as a club legend having won everything there is to win and departing for a team that many would regard as the biggest in football.
And Troy Deeney has now given his verdict on how Liverpool fans will react to Alexander-Arnold’s move to Madrid once made official later this year.

Liverpool fans are ‘going to feel it’ when Trent Alexander-Arnold leaves
Speaking on TalkSport, the former Watford captain said Liverpool fans will feel the emotions of Alexander-Arnold’s departure given that the defender came through the club’s academy and is a local hero.
Even with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk potentially leaving Liverpool as well this summer, Alexander-Arnold’s departure will cut deep with supporters, especially with the right-back being as influential as he has been.
And Deeney thinks fans will be going through the motions when the time comes to say goodbye to the fullback, with the pundit saying: “I think they’re going to feel it a bit more with Trent than they will with the other guys.
“I know Salah is performance based and Van Dijk, but Trent is one of those people where they’re going to say: ‘I played against him as a kid, I know his mum, I know his brothers,’ there’s going to be that whole family connection, so they’re going to feel it a bit more, and he’ll probably feel the wrath a bit more than the other players.”
Liverpool fans should give Trent Alexander-Arnold the ultimate send-off
Alexander-Arnold will go down as one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players and arguably the best right-back to play in the Premier League, with the defender redefining the position and changing the perspective of what the role can offer.
And whilst some Liverpool fans will be mad to see Alexander-Arnold leave, the majority of supporters will understand the defender’s intentions, with Madrid the biggest club in the world and the only side the 26-year-old could have realistically moved to this summer.
As a result, Liverpool fans need to give Alexander-Arnold the perfect send off in the final nine games of the seaosn, where the defender will lead the Reds to the Premier League title and bow out of Anfield as a club legend.
