Liverpool’s win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday sent a real message to the rest of the Premier League.

It had expected to be a tough game for the Reds in North London, with Spurs already beating the likes of Man City and Man United this season.

But with injuries admittedly biting them hard in defence, Ange Postecoglou’s side could not live with Liverpool.

As he tends to be, Mohamed Salah was key to that being the case. The Egyptian registered two goals and two assists on a brilliant afternoon for him.

Salah broke a Premier League record as he became the first player ever to hit double figures for goals and assists before Christmas.

And as the Liverpool legend continues his ascent towards the top of the Premier League scoring charts, it’s worth taking a look at where he now ranks for assists, too.

Mo moving up the list

Salah has been known as a real goal scorer ever since he arrived at Anfield in 2017.

However, over recent years the 32-year-old has added a certain flair for playmaking to his game as well. Salah is regularly one of the most creative players in the Premier League.

As well as being the division’s top scorer this season, Salah is also the top assister, having laid on 11 goals for his teammates.

On course to win the playmaker award for the second time, it is no surprise to see Liverpool’s No.11 towards the top of that particular all-time list, too.

As per premierleague.com, Salah is currently sitting in joint 10th place with Man United hero David Beckham.

Both Salah and Beckham have recorded 80 Premier League assists, leaving them just inside the top 10, but still an incredible 82 shy of Ryan Giggs at the top.

Which other Liverpool players are in the top 10?

With Beckham long since retired, Salah is certain to move ahead of him here and into the top 10 proper.

From there, the next player in his sights will be long-time former Liverpool teammate James Milner. Milner has set up 89 goals during his two-decade spell in the league.

In eighth is another former Liverpool player, with the great Steven Gerrard having registered 92 assists.

Given the longevity of Giggs’ career with United, it’s desperately unlikely that his 162 record will ever be beaten, certainly not by Salah.

But in whatever time he has left at Liverpool, you can bet that the Egyptian King will give it his all to get as close as possible to yet another throne.
