Real Betis are considering signing Leeds United’s Junior Firpo in the winter market, with a deal to take Alex Moreno from Nottingham Forest considered too difficult.

That’s according to Wednesday’s edition of ABC Sevilla, who state Real Betis are keen on signing a new left-back.

The La Liga side have Ricardo Rodríguez and Romain Perraud as their two left-backs, and the duo haven’t impressed this season. They are looking to improve that position in this window and have included the Leeds United player in their list.

Firpo’s contract expires in June, and this puts him in a favourable position to leave Leeds and return to Real Betis, where he spent five years between 2014 and 2019. The 28-year-old made 15 Championship appearances this season and recently returned from an injury he picked up last month.

Alex Moreno, on loan at Nottingham Forest from Aston Villa, is also attractive to Betis but it’s felt Monchi would make a deal too difficult for them to do.

Each team qualified for the Conference League knockout stage can make three changes to the squad. Real Betis don’t have to use this to register Junior because they can register him using his status as a youth team player with the club.

Of course, a lot of this will be down to Junior Firpo himself. Leeds United are very well placed for promotion to the Premier League and should that happen then a renewal may be on the cards.
