Leeds United have been relatively quiet during the January transfer window, with it being other Championship clubs looking to lead the way with attempts to sign players.
A claim from Portugal of Leeds United having serious interest in Dje D'Avilla had the potential to bring a little excitement to proceedings, but it’s quickly been snuffed out if Wednesday’s edition of Portuguese newspaper Record is to be believed.
According to Record, Daniel Farke’s side submitted a €4m offer to Leiria to sign the midfielder.
Born in Ivory Coast, D’Avilla left there for Al-Hilal in 2021 before moving to Portuguese football in 2022. Record state the 21-year-old doesn’t meet the requirements for a UK work permit, due to several factors.
He’s not able to meet the required points, which will be based on international achievements, the level of transfer fee and wages, his game participation, and the competitions and achievements his club has been involved in recently.
Record present that as that, and there’s no indication whether Leeds United will try and fight the system on this one.
