Arsenal are already planning their summer pursuit of a new striker despite the transfer window having just closed for business.

It has been a strong start to the new campaign for the Gunners but there is still some work seemingly needing to be done in the market.

Over the summer, Arsenal were able to bring in four new faces to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad but two of those did arrive in the final hours.

Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino were clear targets for Arsenal but Neto and Raheem Sterling provided the Gunners with late opportunities.

One area of the pitch which was not bolstered was up front with no new strikers coming into north London over the summer.

However, it seems as if Edu Gaspar is already putting plans in place for the Gunners to make their move on a new number nine over the coming months.

Arsenal eyeing move for ‘extraordinary’ striker

Over the summer, Arsenal were linked with a move for a number of strikers with their efforts to land Benjamin Sesko falling short.

Another name Arsenal showed an interest in was Napoli’s Victor Osimhen who has since gone out on loan to Galatasaray following his failed move to Saudi Arabia.

But there is a list of names which are still of interest to the north London side following the closure of the summer transfer window.

According to TeamTalk, Arsenal are now planning their move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic ahead of next summer.

It is believed the Gunners have compiled a six-man shortlist with Viktor Gyokeres, Jonathan David, Benjamin Sesko and Marcus Thuram also of interest.

There is a belief around Arsenal that Vlahovic’s situation could evolve into one like Federico Chiesa with the striker coming up to his final year next summer.

And with the Serbian striker potentially available for a cut-price fee, the Gunners would be keen to take advantage of that.

Arsenal could land ‘extraordinary’ striker in Dusan Vlahovic

Vlahovic is a player who showed his ability last season with a solid season in Serie A which returned 16 goals and three assists.

The Serbian has been hailed as ‘extraordinary‘ in the past having made the move to Juventus from Fiorentina.

Although Kai Havertz was able to provide a similar return last season, there may be the feeling Vlahovic will provide a more significant out and out option for Mikel Arteta.

However, it will be interesting to see whether the Serbian would be open to the prospect of potentially making the move to the Premier League.
