'Ridiculous': Paul Scholes says one Arsenal player did something 'stupid' and 'nasty' against Man City

Arsenal and Manchester City played out arguably the game of the Premier League season as they shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium.
Erling Haaland broke the deadlock in the ninth minute with a close-range finish, but Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes struck for Arsenal to give them the lead.
However, the Gunners suffered a massive blow right before the interval as Leandro Trossard was sent off as he received a second yellow card for kicking the ball away.
Arsenal played the second half with ten men and were pegged back in the closing stages through John Stones, who restored parity with a close-range finish.
In a game that was filled with high-profile talking points, Paul Scholes singled out one Arsenal star for criticism.
Paul Scholes slams Leandro Trossard
Trossard’s red card allowed City to claw their way back into the game as it is virtually impossible to keep them quiet for 45 minutes at the Etihad.
Arsenal nearly pulled off the impossible but Stones’ late goal came as a huge sucker punch to Mikel Arteta and his team.
Paul Scholes referred to Trossard’s actions as stupid, adding that there is simply no space for something like that in the modern game.
"It was stupid. Ridiculous, really. You just can't be doing that,” said Scholes on The Overlap.
“He even could have got done for the foul to be honest with you. It was a stupid foul, a bit of a nasty one.
Stuart Pearce also tore into Trossard for his actions against Man City, adding that he’d have been livid with the Belgian if he were his teammate.

Arsenal need to be a bit more disciplined to win the title
Trossard became the second Arsenal player to be shown his marching orders this season after Declan Rice was sent off against Brighton & Hove Albion before the international break.
The Gunners are undoubtedly one of the best teams in the Premier League but need to show a bit more discipline if they are to give Man City a run for the money in the title race.
Arteta’s players aren’t just a bunch of talented youngsters anymore – they’ve been involved in two Premier League title races in as many seasons and need to show a bit more experience in crunch situations as that could make all the difference at the end of the day.
