Rotherham United boss Steve Evans has said they are waiting to see how long Sean Raggett could potentially be sidelined for.

Rotherham United were forced to leave the defender out of their clash against Northampton Town over the weekend. They won 3-0 with Jonson Clarke-Harris scoring a brace and Andre Green getting their other goal.

The Millers are currently sat in 17th place in the League One table after 18 fixtures and are four points above the drop zone.

In this latest injury update regarding Raggett, Evans has said, as per a report by the Rotherham Advertiser: “Our medical team’s view is that it’s the meniscus, which is a cartilage around where Sean’s had bone bruising. He’ll speak to a consultant on Monday or Tuesday. Depending on the consultant’s prognosis, we’ll go from there.

“It could be: ‘Get on with it, have an injection and play.’ That takes three days. If it’s going to have to be keyhole surgery, it’s three weeks. We’d love to have him available. He’s massive for us.”

The centre-back made the switch to South Yorkshire in the summer following his exit from Portsmouth.

Raggett has made six appearances so far this season for Rotherham United due to injury issues and has chipped in with a single goal from the back.

Evans’ side handed him a contract until June 2026 when he joined them.

He spent four years with his previous club Portsmouth and helped them win the League One title in the last campaign under the guidance of John Mousinho.

The Gillingham-born man made 227 appearances for the Hampshire outfit altogether and scored 17 goals.

Raggett has also had spells in the past at Dover Athletic, Lincoln City and Norwich City.

What now?

Time will tell to see how long he could potentially be sidelined for and Rotherham United will have their fingers crossed.

The Millers have had a disappointing season so far and will hope to climb up the league over the coming weeks and months.

Evans’ side are back in action on Saturday with an away trip to Mansfield Town as they look to build some momentum.

They then lock horns with Shaun Maloney’s Wigan Athletic on their own patch on Boxing Day.
