Stockport County defender Jid Okeke has joined Rochdale on loan, as announced by their official club website.
Stockport County have let the youngster head out the exit door on a temporary basis again.
Okeke, 19, has linked up with Rochdale on a deal until the end of the season to get some experience under his belt in the National League.
He has told their website: “The manager (Jim McNulty) said he really likes me as a player and told me about how he thinks I can help the team.
“That made me really happy and confident about signing here, and I’ve enjoyed my first few days at the club. The lads have been really welcoming and training has been good. I’m excited to show the fans what I’m about.”
Stockport County loan exit
Stockport County signed Okeke back in August 2023 as one for the future.
The right-back was born in Germany and started his career at FC St. Pauli before moving over to England.
He had a spell at Oldham Athletic before making the move to Edgeley Park last year.
Okeke has been loaned out to Chester, Hereford and South Shields since joining the Hatters to boost his development.
He joined the latter earlier in this campaign and went on to play 11 games for them in the National League North.
The prospect has since returned to Dave Challinor’s side and has now been allowed to depart for a fourth tier.
Okeke made his debut for Stockport County back in August in a Carabao Cup tie against Blackburn Rovers.
What now?
The player will be eager to get plenty of minutes with Rochdale and will be able to test himself in the fifth tier.
As for the Hatters, they beat Reading 4-1 last time out.
They are back in action this weekend with an FA Cup clash against Forest Green Rovers.
