Federico Chiesa made his Premier League debut for Liverpool this weekend having made his first appearance for the Reds earlier in the week in the UEFA Champions League.

The £12m signing from Juventus was one of the most interesting additions made by a top-flight English side this summer with Chiesa regarded by many as a top player who is in need of a new home to get the best out of his abilities.

With Chiesa sharing his love for Anfield after making his home debut, it’s already apparent that the Italian international has fallen for Liverpool, with the attacker seemingly captured by the magic the Reds can bring out of certain players.

And Chiesa has now shared if he’s fit enough to start for Liverpool later this week against West Ham in the League Cup.

Chiesa says he’s ready to start for Liverpool vs West Ham

Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, the 26-year-old attacker shared that he feels ready to start for the Reds in their first League Cup game of the season against West Ham on Wednesday night.

Having won the competition last year, Liverpool fans will be keen to see the Reds go again this season in the League Cup in a tournament that could be the first piece of silverware Arne Slot wins as manager of the Anfield side.

And having Chiesa as an attacking option could be huge for Liverpool, with the Italian international potentially looking at the League Cup as the easiest way to get minutes under his belt and to gain match fitness having spent most of this summer not training.

Chiesa said when asked if he thinks he’s ready to play against West Ham: “Yes, I am. I am training for that, I'm training harder, faster, I'm training to be ready to play, but this depends on the coach and when he wants me to play and put me in, I just have to be ready and play.”

Chiesa should be given first Liverpool start vs West Ham

Chiesa has looked good in his first two appearances for Liverpool from the bench, with the winger shaking off those final signs of rust since joining the Reds last summer from Juventus.

And with the League Cup coming up this week, now is the ideal time to give Chiesa his first start for Liverpool, with a home game against West Ham ideal for a player of the Italian’s qualities and skill.

Indeed, Chiesa could flourish under the lights at Anfield against a good Premier League side, and the forward seems keen on proving his worth after moving to Liverpool this summer.
