Philippe Clement continues to defy those who are demanding for the Rangers boss to be sacked by hanging onto his job by a thread.

The Ibrox hotseat has never been one for the feint hearted, however, the numbers speak for themselves when it comes to the precarious position that the manager finds himself in.

Some of it has been down to luck with injuries, some to do with the players letting Rangers down, however, Clement learned in spectacular fashion what he can't do against St Mirren.

The Rangers rotation mistake Philippe Clement can’t repeat

Everyone knows that the depth of the squad is poor, outside of the starting XI and 14-15 key members, there is little in terms of quality.

It should still be enough to beat teams like St Mirren, but the evidence suggests that the fringe players who have been trusted in the past simply don't have what it takes to carry the weight of expectation that comes with the famous Light Blue jersey.

Clement, like any manager, has to rotate his starting line-up to keep it fresh, it is knowing who and when that makes the difference.

In Hamza Igamane and Danilo, Clement has two players who have shown that they are the difference in the final third and, if they need to be rested, should be given a breather by coming off earlier rather than having to come off the bench to save the game.

What has Danilo blamed abject away form on?

Wheeled out after the SMiSA Stadium defeat in Paisley, goalscorer Danilo showed what he can do in a packed box and accepted that the players were to blame:

"It’s not our standard, the first-half," said the Brazilian striker.

“So, to come in the dressing room, 1-0 behind, it’s not what we want. But we know our quality, and we knew that we could bounce back. That’s what we showed but then again, like just unlucky to concede a goal in the last minute.”

As with Rangers dreadful away form, Danilo accepted that the players must do better:

“I don’t know. It’s just a situation that is just about us.

“So, if it’s away, if it’s home, I think it’s just about us and showing our qualities. I think that Sunday is a good opportunity to be ready.”
