Bolton Wanderers and Blackpool meet in League One this weekend with both sides looking to claim all three points.

Bolton Wanderers did not have the start the season they’d have wanted, leaving them with work to do in the bid to get back in the promotion fight.

They had enjoyed an upturn in form but Ian Evatt now faces the challenge of rallying his squad after a 5-0 defeat to Stockport County last time out. That result was particularly unexpected, given Stockport themselves had been on the receiving end of a 5-0 loss just one game earlier.

The Trotters are now 11th in the table as a result, three points off the top six.

On the other hand, Blackpool and manager Steve Bruce are under pressure, with the early momentum from his arrival waning.

The Seasiders have managed only three points from their last seven League One matches, sliding down to 18th place. Adding to their woes, the Tangerines hold the league’s worst defensive record, conceding 28 goals in 15 games.

However, they did secure a clean sheet in a goalless draw with Northampton Town in their most recent fixture.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Charlie Hodgson

“For me, this is a must-win game for Bolton. Evatt will need a win after that disastrous result against Stockport and back at home he will back his side.

Blackpool on the other hand will not want another loss on their record, they are in quite the rot at the minute. However, the short trip to Bolton will not be an easy one for Bruce’s side.

“I can only see the home side winning this one but to be fair you never know which Bolton will turn up on the day.”

Prediction: Bolton Wanderers 3-0 Blackpool

Who is the manager of Blackpool?

“This should be an interesting game between two sides many expected more from this season. That’s especially the case for Bolton Wanderers at least.

“They had shown signs of improvement and pushed towards the play-off spots again but that heavy defeat to Stockport County was a real kick in the gut, dampening spirits again. A response is needed here and having gone four without defeat at home, I back the Trotters to get it.

Blackpool’s form has really faltered and having looked pretty good on the road, they’ve now lost the last three League One games away from Bloomfield Road.

“I can see that being made four this weekend. I’ll go for a Bolton Wanderers win.”

Prediction: Bolton Wanderers 2-0 Blackpool
