RS Berkane made history by securing their first-ever Moroccan Botola Pro league title under the guidance of Tunisian coach Mouine Chaabani.
This comes after the Orange Boys drew 1-1 against Ittihad Touarga on Saturday night in what was a result in the 25th round of the top-flight league.
Berkane are now on 60 points, which means they opened an unassailable 15-point lead over their closest challenger, FAR Rabat, with five matches left.
“Everyone was determined to win the league title from the start of the season,” Chaabani said.
Chaabani has proved to be one of the top coaches in African football, having won two CAF Champions League titles with Esperance de Tunis.
The 43-year-old also guided Esperance to three Tunisian Premier League titles and two Tunisian Super Cups.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) president Fouzi Lekjaa congratulated Berkane who were established in 1938.
"On behalf of the Executive Board, I extend my congratulations to Renaissance Sportive de Berkane for winning the Professional League title for the first time in their history,” Lekjaa said.
