Busby has the Home Park whistle

Tonight's game against Plymouth will be refereed by John Busby and it will be just his third Burnley game with the other two coming two seasons ago one at home and one away.
He refereed the game at Coventry in October 2022 and followed that up by taking charge of the win against Wigan in March 2023. Those two games have given him a very healthy RATE THE REF rating of 81.31 out of a hundred. He's in third place in the table, but beware, after two games, Anthony Backhouse was right behind him and we know what happened last Friday.
Of the yellows, 27 have gone to home team players and 35 to away team players. The first of the two players he's sent off this season was Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski just half an hour into their game at Portsmouth. They held on for a 0-0 draw.
More recently he dismissed Bristol City's Rob Dickie in a 2-1 home loss to Sheffield United. The card came in stoppage time with the score 1-1 at the time.
Busby's most recent game was the FA Cup tie between Bournemouth and West Brom a week last Saturday. Bournemouth won the game 5-1 and had Antoine Semenyo carded alongside West Brom's Darnell Furlong, Mason Holgate and Caleb Taylor.
Fourth official tonight is Adam Herczeg. Promoted to the Football League ahead of the 2022/23 season he is still predominantly refereeing in Leagues One and Two although he has now refereed four Championship games. He's still to referee a Burnley game.
