Club open 'concrete discussions' with Chelsea – Love player's profile, working on January deal

Olympique Marseille have started 'concrete discussions' with Chelsea to sign Renato Veiga this month.

That's according to L'Equipe who say Marseille's staff love the 21-year-old and now want to sign him.

According to their information, Chelsea are open to a departure. However, they would like to sell Veiga permanently or loan him with a compulsory purchase option.

Veiga has only been at Stamford Bridge since the summer. He moved to Stamford Bridge in a €14m move FC Basel as Chelsea continued to add to their squad.

He's made 18 appearances in all competitions to date but only seven in the Premier League. Those seven appearances have totalled 176 minutes. He has started six out of six games in the UEFA Conference League and played 90 minutes in each, though.

Marseille are looking to take advantage of that and are 'working on the file' with Chelsea. Concrete negotiations are underway between both clubs.

He's very much appreciated by Roberto de Zerbi and his team. In fact, they 'love his profile' and are now working to take him to France before the end of the transfer window. It is unclear what offer they would make at this moment in time.

But Chelsea have set out their terms clearly so it would be surprising if it was not either of those options.
