Wrexham to make striker loan decision over the next couple of days
Today at 03:53 AM
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has said they will make a ‘decision’ on Sam Dalby’s future at Dundee United this week.
Wrexham sent the striker up to Scotland on loan in the summer to get some game time. He has since been a hit and has scored 10 goals in 20 league games so far this season.
Dalby, 25, has become a key player for Dundee United and has really found his feet above the border. Jim Goodwin’s side will be praying that they are able to keep hold of him until the summer.
In this latest update regarding his situation, Parkinson has simply said, as per a report by the Evening Leader: “We are going to make a decision on Sam this week.”
Wrexham were promoted from League Two last year along with Stockport County, Mansfield Town and Crawley Town and they have adapted well to life in League One. They are sat in 3rd place in the table behind Birmingham City and Wycombe Wanderers.
Wrexham to make Sam Dalby decision
Wrexham need to decide what is best for Dalby ahead of the second-half of this campaign.
If they were to recall him, he would have to battle it out for a place in their starting XI.
He is one of the first names on the team sheet at Dundee United right now and is in great form.
His contract with the Red Dragons expires in June and he is due to become a free agent as things stand.
The London-born man moved to the Racecourse Ground back in 2022 to bolster their attacking ranks.
Dalby has since scored 13 goals in 91 matches for the Welsh outfit and has helped them rise from the National League to League One during his time there.
Prior to his transfer, he previously had spells at Leyton Orient, Leeds United, Morecambe, Watford, Stockport Conty, Woking and Southend United.
Parkinson told Evening Leader earlier this month: “He’s a player we rate but we just felt it was time for him to go and be someone’s number nine. He needed that and what a great loan move it has been for him so far.
“He’s done really well but we felt he would if given a run of games.“
What now for Wrexham player?
Dundee United will learn Dalby’s fate over the coming days as Wrexham mull over what to do.
The Red Dragons are back in action on Thursday night away at Shrewsbury Town.
