Egan-Riley leads the defence in Stoke draw

It was defenders on top in last week's 0-0 home draw against Stoke with CJ Egan-Riley ahead of the field, winning both the man of the match and the player ratings.

On a disappointing night for the Clarets, the one positive was another clean sheet, and it was no surprise to see the two central defenders out in front again as they took the top two places.

Egan-Riley won 47% of the vote for the man of the match, followed by Maxime Estève who had a 19% share. Goalkeeper James Trafford was third with 10% while Connor Roberts, with 5% of the vote, took fourth place.

The same four players held the same four positions in the player ratings too. Egan-Riley was in front with a rating of 7.22 out of ten and very closely behind him came Estève with 7.19. They were the only two players to pass seven with Trafford coming third with 6.70 and Roberts fourth with 6.41 out of ten.

This result has given Egan-Riley ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Years. There are also six points for Estève, four points for Trafford and two points for Roberts.

Estève is now thirteen points ahead of Egan-Riley at the top of the table while Trafford and Roberts are now joint fifth.
