Sheffield United reach verbal transfer agreement with Jonjoe Kenny

Sheffield United have reached a verbal transfer agreement with Jonjoe Kenny, according to claims from Germany on Monday afternoon.
The 27-year-old has been with Hertha Berlin since 2022 when he left Everton on a permanent basis. Kenny had come through the youth system at the Merseyside club but wasn’t quite able to make the full breakthrough and become a consistent member of the first team.
He went on loans to Wigan Athletic, Oxford United, Schalke and Celtic, with the right-back perhaps having his best spell whilst in Germany.
That likely had something to do with Hertha Berlin showing up and they secured him on a free transfer after an Everton renewal was snubbed in favour of searching for prominence elsewhere.
He’s certainly getting that, but Hertha Berlin are 12th in Bundesliga 2 and a step up is clearly desired.
Florian Plettenberg reports Kenny has reached a verbal agreement to join Sheffield United this month.
Kenny is keen for the move and wants to help Sheffield United secure promotion to the Premier League. His contract expires in June so there’s a lot of pressure on the German club to agree a deal with the Blades.
