SoccerNews in the Netherlands is reporting on Monday that Derby County are lined up to commit what they call a transfer ‘robbery’ of an Eredivisie club.
The man in question, and who the Championship club are looking to sign in the coming days, is Oscar Fraulo. A midfielder, the 21-year-old is owned by Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach.
He’s been on loan at FC Utrecht since 2023, with the latest season long loan having a buying option for the Dutch club.
SoccerNews report Derby County are looking to take the whole deal from Utrecht, so the loan from Borussia Monchengladbach plus the buying option for the summer.
Fraulo, who was born in Denmark and has represented the country from U16 to U21 level, started the season as a regular for Utrecht but has lost prominence in recent weeks.
That has seen an opportunity open up for Derby County. Whilst SoccerNews describe it as a ‘robbery’, they don’t make it sound like Utrecht are trying to block the move.
