Official: Hampton & Richmond sign Max Merrick on loan from Chelsea

Chelsea U21 goalkeeper Max Merrick, 19 has completed a loan move to non-league Hampton & Richmond on Friday, where he will spent the rest of the season.
Merrick in effect replaces fellow teenager Ted Curd, who had previously been on loan at the seme club, but was surprisingly recalled earlier this week. That decision to recall Curd now makes a lot more sense.
Curd made 23 appearances for the sixth tier side, keeping 9 clean sheets, so Merrick will have some big shoes to fill. Hampton & Richmond currently sit 11th in the National League South and will be playing Tonbridge Angels tomorrow (Saturday), with Merrick available to suit up immediately.
England U20 international Merrick joined Chelsea at the under-13 level from grassroots football, a relatively late start, but has risen quickly through the ranks since. He was recently spotted on the bench in a couple of our UEFA Conference League matches, though he has not made his senior debut yet. This will be his first loan.
