Celtic are plotting a move to sign Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden in the closing stages of the transfer window in addition to the re-signing of Jota, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 22-year-old is expected to cost around £10million this month as his club are reluctant to see him leave mid-season.

Celtic are plotting a blizzard of late deals before the 3 February deadline as they prepare to splash the cash to find a replacement for the outgoing Kyogo Furuhashi.

This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed on 23 January that the forward has travelled to France to undergo his medical ahead of a move to Rennes.

That deal is expected to be worth £10million, and will allow Brendan Rodgers and his transfer team to reinvest in the squad as they look to bring in an immediate replacement.

Kvistgaarden is one of the names on their shortlist of targets as a result of an impressive season in the Superliga, despite his side’s fifth-placed position.

The striker has scored ten goals and provided four assists in 15 league games so far, with 14 goals and five assists in 22 appearances across all competitions.

At just 22 years old, he represents the possibility to make further profit from his sale in the future and would be an ideal fit for the profile Celtic have been looking for.

Kvistgaarden is a Denmark under-21 international and has been at Brondby for his entire career, but there is now a feeling he is ready to make the move abroad.

Meanwhile, Celtic are also working on late deals to strengthen elsewhere, with a deal to re-sign Jota from Rennes approaching the closing stages.

Rodgers’ side are looking to have a strong end to the window before the deadline on 3 February with a number of incoming deals in the works behind the scenes.

In other news, Kasper Schmeichel has sent a message to Celtic fans after a recent update.
