Charlton Athletic defender Lloyd Jones has said they want to get back to ‘winning ways’ this weekend.
Charlton Athletic are back in action with an away trip to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday. They drew 1-1 at home to Rotherham United last time out with striker Chuks Aneke scoring their goal.
Jones, 28, has played in every game so far this season for the League One side and scored on the opening day at Wigan Athletic. The centre-back has been a regular since Nathan Jones took over at The Valley.
Speaking ahead of their upcoming clash against the Shrews, he has said, as per the club website: “There is no such thing as an easy game in this league, obviously also being away from home. We want to get back to winning ways. The supporters play a massive role. They give us that extra 5% and it makes that difference. They’ve been brilliant all season.”
In terms of the campaign so far, he said: “I think it’s been a really solid start. We’ve been in every game, and I actually believe we could have won every game. 10 points from the first five games, I’ll take that all day.
“I’m really pleased to have been nominated. It’s a reflection on the whole defence and the team with how we’ve started the season. I’m honoured to be up for Player of the Month.”

Charlton Athletic started with three wins on the spin against Wigan Athletic, Leyton Orient and Bolton Wanderers.
They then lost away at Reading before their draw against Rotherham United last Saturday.
The Addicks are winless in their last two and won’t want to go three without a win as they look to gain promotion to the Championship.
Jones’ performances in August have resulted in him getting nominated for the Player of the Month award along with Birmingham City’s Alfie May, Barnsley’s Adam Phillips and Stockport County’s Louie Barry.
The former Luton Town, Northampton Town and Cambridge United man joined Charlton Athletic last year on a contract until 2025. His deal expires in less than 12 months’ time and they have a decision to make regarding his long-term future.
In the meantime, his immediate focus is on picking up as many points as possible.
What next for Charlton Athletic?
Charlton Athletic are stuck with what they have now in their squad until January, unless they want to bring in more players in the free agent market.
Their upcoming opponents Shrewsbury Town won 3-0 at home to Leyton Orient in their last outing so will be in confident mood.
Paul Hurst’s side finished 19th in the table last term and will be aiming for higher this time around.
